Military Matters

Training

As a soldier local training should take place weekly and you are expected to attend as many as you can manage. Each training session will count towards you rising through your skill levels. All warriors start with a spear and shield and after acquiring training stamps you may take your spear test. Once this has been passed you may train in another weapon. You may train in more than two other weapons but you must acquire more stamps before testing in each weapon skill.

As an archer training will take place at Battlefield 1403, usually each Sunday. There will be archers available to show you the ropes as well as spare bows for you to 'have a taste' before you acquire your own bow and arrows.

The whole group meet once a month for social and business purposes.

The Military Unit

As a soldier you would form part of the shield wall which formed the main military unit of the time.

We have an enthusiastic archery unit which provides displays for the public, or if you are really proficient and prove your skills, then you may be involved in combat archery on the battlefield.

The warriors train weekly, sometimes in a rented hall, sometimes in a field. You will be expected to attend as many training events as possible not only to hone your skills but also to keep you safe.

The whole family can be involved, however, although we train our soldiers from 14 years, you must be 16 or over to fight at events with other groups.

Your minimum basic equipment
